Following the municipal and regional elections is Spain yesterday, it would appear that the Valencia Grand Prix, scheduled for 2008, will go ahead as planned.
The was uproar earlier this month when, announcing the deal, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone had suggested that the deal was conditional on Francisco Camps' Partido Popular party retaining control.
Although the Partido Popular obtained more votes than in the last elections it lost control in many cities, however, Valencia was not among them, indeed the party increased its overall majority in the region.
It's understood that there will be a certain degree of pact making in various cities over the next few days, and therefore all attention is focussed there. However, once the dust has settled it is expected that the 2008 Grand Prix will get the official go-ahead.
