The success of the Super Aguri team at Barcelona has resulted in mixed feelings for Honda team boss Nick Fry.
Against all odds, the Leafield-based 'B-team' scored a point at Barcelona when Super Aguri's Takuma Sato brought his car home in eighth, with teammate Anthony Davidson finishing eleventh, sandwiched by the two works' cars.
Speaking to Dutch magazine Formule 1 Race Report, Fry said: "I am happy for them, we are all a part of the Honda family." Quite whether his employers back in Japan will see it the same way remains to be seen, particularly considering the relative budgets of the two outfits.
Fry admits that though he was happy to see Super Aguri take its first point, while Honda has yet to open its 2007 account, he "hates" the fact that the Leafield team is beating its 'big brother'.
Looking ahead however, Fry is convinced that Super Aguri won't have the upper hand for long: "Development in F1 is very competitive, and you have to have the resources to keep it up," he said. "I think it will be very difficult for them to keep going at this level."
Regular Pitpass readers will be delighted to know that 'Helios' will be breaking cover again tomorrow, to give his thoughts on the Barcelona result, while looking ahead to Monaco, and beyond.
