NEWS STORY
OK, we admit it, there's not a lot happening at present - other than the customer car row, flexing floors and the adventures of Bernie - and, frankly, we got bored.
You all know what they say about the devil and idle hands... well, this is the result.
A couple of weeks back, the German media - namely Bild, which at times actually makes The Sun look classy - claimed that McLaren is a German team, since Mercedes-Benz has a 40 percent shareholding, and consequently demanded that whenever one of the Woking cars wins a race - which could be a regular occurrence this year - the German national anthem should be played, as opposed to the British.
The Sun never really bothered with the story at the time, though we can all imagine the sort of headlines it would run should 'Our Lew' stand atop the podium at Silverstone to the strains of Lied der Deutschen.
McLaren was founded by Bruce McLaren, a New Zealander, though the name is entirely Scottish. However, the Woking-based team is owned by Ron Dennis (an Englishman), Mansour Ojjeh (Saudi), Mercedes-Benz (German) and Bahrain's Mumtalakat Holding Company.
Faced with the dilemma as to what anthem should be played we got to thinking that maybe it would be better if each team, indeed each driver had his own song.
However, rather than ask Jacques Villeneuve, the artist formerly known as World Champion, to write the theme tune and sing the theme tune, we thought it best to court your suggestions.
What song could be played which best encapsulates McLaren, what tune would have Scot Speed standing even more erect on the top step at Indianapolis? And how about an anthem for Formula One itself, is there a melody that might have Bernie stand that little bit taller, a little ditty that will help him rise to the occasion during his travels out east?
It's over to you folks... we want your ideas for 'anthems' for the drivers and teams, and please let your imaginations run riot.
Please send your suggestions to editor@pitpass.com
Note: Thanks to Francis Newman for the picture

We should retain the national anthems but with a crazy frog remix. Now that'd be sweeeet! =)
