A1 Team Ireland has taken the unusual step of switching cars just before today's Sprint race.
The team will now use one of the designated spare cars for today's two races – with driver Richard Lyons using the one driven by John Watson during his televised practice laps on Friday.
In a continued effort to find more pace in the series, the team went to officials to ask permission for the chassis change, which was granted. The car has been re-liveried to Ireland's traditional bright green colours.
"We just don't know what the problem is really, and this move is just to continue to try and rule out problems with our car," said Lyons. "The main thing is to get to the finish in the Sprint. The car felt fine and I didn't feel any problems with it when I approached the grid."
