In a move which is sure to please Nick Heidfeld, BMW will use its two race drivers in this Friday's free practice sessions at Sakhir.
The German has made no secret of the fact that he believes his employers made a mistake in running third driver Sebastian Vettel in Australian and Malaysia, the former F3000 Champion claiming that he failed to see the logic in the move since there was no data Vettel might acquire which Heidfeld and (teammate) Kubica couldn't furnish. This in turn led to speculation as to Heidfeld's future with the German team.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix, team boss Mario Theissen explained by Heidfeld and Kubica will have the F1.07s to themselves this weekend.
"In Bahrain our race drivers, Nick and Robert, will take part in all free practice sessions," he confirmed. "Sebastian has his debut on the same weekend in the World Series in Monza. While Timo Glock, our second test driver, also goes racing that weekend for the first time in 2007. He will compete in the GP2 race in Bahrain."
