As speculation continues as to whether Singapore is to host a round of the Formula One World Championship, on a specially designed street track, with some sections of the media expecting an announcement last weekend, there is talk of a permanent race track being built.
Singapore's Today newspaper quotes unnamed sources as saying that the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports could build a permanent track to host MotoGP and A1 Grand Prix races, though the circuit would not be used for Formula One.
It is widely thought that when Singapore does enter F1 - and many believe it could still be next year - it will be as a street race, and most likely held at night.
Speaking to Radio 938Live, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, S. Iswaran, confirmed that negotiations are proceeding well.
