With the original idea proving to be entirely ineffective - was anyone really likely to notice a small white spot on a tyre sidewall? - Bridgestone is evaluating a number of ideas during this week's test at Sepang.
Today, with the assistance of Williams, the Japanese manufacturer tried another 'spot', this one however being red and larger than the version used in Melbourne. Observers trackside at Sepang say it was more noticeable.
It also tried a continuous white line painted within the outside groove, which though distinctive can only really be seen from the front.
It has been proposed that Bridgestone follow the Champcar initiative and paint the entire tyre sidewall red, but thus far the Japanese manufacturer seems loathe to make such a move.
However, with Bridgestone's corporate colour being red, Pitpass reader Miguel A. Diaz suggests that perhaps the Japanese company could mark one of the compounds with red letters as opposed to white.
But as Pitpass pointed out to Mr Diaz this is far too simple and sensible a solution for Formula One (TM).
