According to reports, Banco Santander which sponsors the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Team, could be in line to take title sponsorship of the British Grand Prix.
The reports follow the announcement that Renault sponsor ING is to have a major trackside presence at 14 rounds of the World Championship including title sponsorship for the season opener at Melbourne.
Though neither Silverstone or Banco Santander, which owns the Abbey banking company in Britain, are willing to confirm or outright deny the reports, sources claim that the deal could be worth around £6m.
Already under severe pressure from Bernie Ecclestone to get its act together, the Northamptonshire track will need all the help it can get, especially in light of the recent buy-out of Donington, a move which is understood to have "delighted" the F1 supremo.
