NEWS STORY
The German press is claiming that Michael Schumacher is being groomed as Ferrari's next team boss, with some sections of the media, particularly Auto, Motor und Sport and the Financial Times Deutschland, claiming that the World Champion could assume his role later this year.
Referring to Schumacher's continuing presence, yet no clear role currently defined for the German, a 'source' is quoted as saying: "Someone who is being integrated in such things is being prepared for a higher job. That must be the team boss position."
While Sabine Kehm adds: "For the background, Michael's role is completely clear."
Therefore it didn't come as too much as a surprise when Pitpass approached Ferrari Communications Manager Luca Colajanni this morning.
"I know what you're going to say," he laughed. "But honestly, I have nothing to say, I prefer to ignore such reports. Michael is clearly involved with the team, but this particular report is nonsense."
Asked if he expects such speculation to continue, he laughed, "but of course, that is what the media does, speculate."
At which precise point Michael Schumacher drove into the Barcelona paddock to be warmly greeted by Colajanni and other members of the team.
Curiouser and curiouser.
