GP2 series race winner Giorgio Pantano (right) will lead Campos Racing's charge for the GP2 series championship in 2007, and will be joined at the Spanish squad by Russian Vitaly Petrov.
Giorgio spent the entire winter testing for the Adrian Campos' team, and will begin the new season with a team he has come to form a good working relationship over the past few months. The Italian is returning to the series for the third year, and after finishing fifth in last season's standings after an amazing double win on home soil at Monza, he will be hoping that his wealth of experience at this level will finally reap the championship success which has thus far passed him by.
23 year old Vitaly also contested the GP2 series in 2006, taking part in the final four rounds of the season for DPR. A champion in his native Russia in Formula 1600 and the Lada Cup, he also raced in the Euroseries 3000, where he finished the championship in third position, achieving four victories.
Campos Grand Prix has placed expectation high for 2007, stating wins as their sole aim for the year.
"We start our third season in the GP2 Series with the aim of winning races and to see up to where we are capable of coming," said team boss Adrian Campos. "Pantano represents a sure bet because his quality is not in any doubt. Petrov will be the second driver. He already knows the category having disputed the last four meetings of 2006, and I hope that he adapts quickly to the team."
