After a one month break A1 Team Netherlands kicks off the second half of the A1GP season at Taupo, New Zealand. On the brand new Taupo circuit the sixth race of this season will be held. After a long trip out the team has started preparations.
During the break the team got a change to recharge their batteries again in order to go all out and after the disqualification in Indonesia they are more then motivated to get a good result this weekend.
For all teams this is a completely new track and it could well be very close on the twisty track, where the spectators have got a complete view on almost the entire track.
A1 Team Netherlands Rookie driver Renger van der Zande (right) walked a lap on the track this morning to get a first impression for his Rookie session on Friday morning. "It's a nice track, looks a bit like a go kart circuit. This is my first time in New Zealand and this is a beautiful country, lot's of spectacular nature and this nice circuit. You can almost see the entire track, which is very special. I'm looking forward to it. The nice weather has turned up so I think I will have fun here, it's perfect".
Jeroen Bleekemolen is looking forward to racing again after a months break; "The last few years I had a lot of racing, almost every week and if you have no race for more than a month you start to miss it. Although this was a 40 hour trip you cannot wait to get on a plane and come here and race. The track is quite interesting, it's not a very fast circuit. Nobody knows this track, which will be good for us I think. Of course you can really say something about the circuit after you have driven it".
