Super Aguri team boss, former F1 racer, Aguri Suzuki (right), is to drive his team's 2006 contender, the SA06, at Silverstone today in a move that is part promotional and partly an attempt to understand the contemporary F1 car.

The Japanese driver retired from F1 in early 1995 having contested 63 Grands Prix with Zakspeed, Larrousse, Footwork, Ligier and one outing (1994 Pacific GP) with Jordan.

The outing mirrors the time when (then) Jaguar team boss Niki Lauda drove the British team's current car in an effort to understand why it was uncompetitive.

Also taking the wheel of the Super Aguri today will be former F1 drivers Martin Brundle and Christian Danner, all three men having driven for Zakspeed at some stage in the careers.
