A combination of Luca Filippi and Franck Perera served to take Durango to the top of the timesheets at the second post-2006 GP2 series season test at Circuit Paul Ricard this week. The Italian combo of Luca and Durango took the top spots in both the morning and afternoon sessions of the first day, while Franck's morning time from the second day was enough to top the times not only for the final day, but of the test overall. Luca again topped the timesheets on the final afternoon, this time running for Arden International.
Giorgio Pantano, who finished third overall today, in the Campos Racing car, had his times disallowed when his car was found to be underweight.
Once again there were many new faces behind the wheel of GP2 series cars as the teams search for their ultimate 2007 line-ups.
The test was overshadowed however by the sad news of the death of ART Grand Prix's Steeve Marcel on Monday night. The team subsequently pulled out of the test, and our thoughts are with Steeve's family, friends and everyone at ART Grand Prix at this difficult time.
