As previously reported by Pitpass, South Korea is to host a round of the World Championship from 2010.
Following yesterday's Chinese Grand Prix at Shanghai, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone flew to Seol to officially conclude the deal.
Speaking at the official announcement, Ecclestone said that would help encourage young Korean drivers into the sport. That said, despite countries such as Turkey, China and Bahrain joining the calendar in recent years, the sport is still mostly the preserve of European and South American drivers, indeed in its 57-year-history there has never been a black Formula One driver.
Also present at today's ceremony was Park Joon-yung, governor of the South Cholla region where the circuit will be built.
