The day after reporting plans for an F1 track in Bulgaria, Pitpass understands that Poland is the latest country attempting to get in on the F1 act, at a time when the country is celebrating the success of its first ever Formula One World Championship Grand Prix driver, Robert Kubica, who finished third in the recent Italian Grand Prix.
We hear that the city of Gdansk is looking to build a race-track capable of hosting F1 races - in addition to motorcycle, Sportscar and touring car events - based on the Istanbul Park model.
The project, which has the full support of the Mayor of Gdansk, Pawel Adamowicz, already has a 180 hectare site in mind, and a proposed budget of 150m (Euro).
We understand that the Gdansk Automobile Club is already talking to a number of possible investors.
