Organizers of the San Marino Grand Prix, which was missing from the provisional 2007 schedule released last month, have been given hope by today's meeting between the FIA, the F1 teams and manufacturers.
It was agreed that there would be 18 races in 2007, which suggests that Imola - which still has to carry out a major redevelopment programme - could be given a reprieve.
Following the Bahrain Grand Prix (April 15), there is a break of almost a month before the fourth round of the World Championship, scheduled to take place at Barcelona on May 13.
The future of the Turkish Grand Prix is also 'up in the air', with the National Sporting Authority of Turkey (TOSFED) and Organisers of the 2006 Turkish Grand Prix (MSO) appearing before a specially convened meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris tomorrow (Tuesday), to hear charges that they acted in breach of the FIA Statutes, the International Sporting Code and the 2006 Formula One Sporting Regulations. The charge relates to an incident during the podium ceremony at last month's race.
