According to reliable reports, Ferrari will announce its driver line-up for 2007 after next weekend's Italian Grand Prix.
For as long as most of us can remember, there has been speculation over whether Michael Schumacher will continue racing in 2007, bearing in mind that he's 38 in January. With an eighth World Championship title still within reach, many believe that German wishes to go out a high, even if he should miss out on the title by a handful of points.
As the German ponders his decision, the driver market has pretty much come to a standstill, though some drivers have opted to move early for fear of being left up the creek without the proverbial paddle.
Now, according to Ferrari a decision as to its 2007 line-up will be made after next weekend's race at Monza - where Schumacher could score a fifth win - with many believing that the Italian team will announce the German's retirement at the end of the season, and Kimi Raikkonen to join Felipe Massa.
However, nobody really knows what Schumacher is thinking, and even if he should decide to hang up his helmet, there are some who believe that it is not impossible that he could return to the sport. When other drivers, most notably Mika Hakkinen and Damon Hill have tired of the sport, it has quickly become obvious. Anyone who witnessed last weekend's race in Turkey will know that - barring the odd mistake - Schumacher remains as talented and competitive as ever. Although he makes no secret of his love for his family, it is also clear that racing is a major part of his life.
