At 19 years and 53 days, Sebastian Vettel takes the record from New Zealander Mike Thackwell, who was 19 years 180 days old when he drove a Tyrell in practice for the 1980 Canadian Grand Prix at Montreal, thereby the German becomes the youngest ever F1 driver.
However, dampening his highly impressive debut this morning was the fact that the 19-year-old also set another record.
Just nine seconds into the session - a record itself - he was clocked at 64.3 kph in the pit lane, 4.3 kph over the limit, which cost him an instant $1000 fine.
