Although BMW is refusing to comment on rumours currently doing the rounds, answering all enquiries with a "nothing is confirmed" response, Pitpass understands that 2004 Formula BMW Germany Champion, Sebastian Vettel, will assume the role of third driver for BMW as from this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix.
The 19-year-old, who is currently running second in the Formula 3 Euro Series, 6 points behind Paul di Resta, first attracted attention when he won 18 of the 20 races that comprised the 2004 Formula BMW Germany Championship, going on to finish fifth in the 2005 Formula 3 Euro Series, taking the 'Rookie' title.
If Pitpass' sources are correct, and Vettel does run on Friday, he will replace Robert Kubica, who was promoted to a full race seat for the Hungarian Grand Prix following the German team's parting of the ways with Jacques Villeneuve.
The youngster tested for BMW at Jerez last month, having previously made his F1 test debut with WilliamsF1 last year, part of his prize for winning the 2004 Formula BMW Germany Championship.
