We are not proud to admit it but Pitpass had to resort to blackmail in order to get Geoff Collins to submit his quiz in time for this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.
Late on Wednesday evening Pitpass editor Chris Balfe wrote to Geoff warning that unless the quiz was forthcoming, "certain information" about The Gnome might be made public.
The Gnome's pleas for more time fell on deaf ears, and his claim that a surprise visit from the in-laws, together with a heavy workload, merely forced Pitpass to up the ante.
Although we now have the quiz, since Geoff did not meet the deadline, Pitpass has no choice but to go ahead with its original threat... the shameful truth about 'The Gnome' will appear here sometime next week - probably Tuesday or Wednesday, when it's quiet. Readers of a weak disposition are advised not to attempt to read the expose, simply give us a ring and we'll tell you all about it.
Anyway, in the meantime, please fell free to check out Geoff's effort, which covers the 2005, 1997 and 1977 events.
No doubt you recall who took pole at Montreal last year - not that he's likely to repeat the feat this year - but do you remember who Jacques hit on the first lap, forcing the Canadian to stop for a new nosecone? And who missed out on winning by (just) missing the call to pit under a safety car period? And was none too happy about it!
In 1997, who, taking part in their first Grand Prix, made a great impression in practice by having a red-flag-causing accident?, and who was hit "up the gearbox" by his teammate while the safety car was on track?
Finally, in 1977, Which Ferrari driver got fed up with the Italian team and decided not to drive, and what car was (race winner) Jody Scheckter driving?
