The Campos GP2 Team has issued the following apology to its driver Félix Porteiro following his disqualification from Race 2 at Silverstone, in which he had finished second:

The Campos GP2 Team wants to transmit our total acceptance of the sanction that has imposed after the second race of the GP2 Series at that resulted in Félix Porteiro's disqualification.

The Spanish driver had realized a great race, obtaining his first podium of the GP2 Series having finished second behind Lewis Hamilton.

In the later technical inspection, the stewards detected a piece badly placed in the car number 25 of the Campos GP2 Team, for what they chose to exclude Félix. The sanction was caused because the position of the zipper of direction was not corresponding to the geometry of the front suspension.

The disqualification was owed therefore exclusively to a human mistake in the placement of this piece, which had been mounted upside-down, though no premeditation has existed, we are clear that the regulations do not leave place for discussion, in spite of the fact that the assembly of the mentioned piece does not improve the characteristics of the car.

The regulation is clear and there is no other option than the exclusion of the driver for a technical irregularity.

For it, we would like to be sorry this incident, as well as publicly apologize to our driver Félix Porteiro, who sees disappear the great work that he had realized on the track, which had allowed him to obtain his first podium in the category.
