NEWS STORY
In 1995 there was talk of David Coulthard, then driving for Williams in his first full season of F1, joining Michael Schumacher at Ferrari in 1996.
As it turned out, the Scot moved to McLaren while the Italian team paid a large sum of money to Eddie Jordan for the services of Eddie Irvine.
Over the years, the Scot has been linked with the Italian team on a couple of occasions, and now, from out of nowhere, there is talk of the F1 veteran heading to Maranello.
"Coulthard refuses to dampen Ferrari speculation" declares Reuters, which means that over the course of the next few days we can expect to see the usual suspects - those websites and newspapers that leap at such sensational stories - making all manner of claims.
Far be it from Pitpass to suggest that the Ferrari nonsense is an attempt to gee-up Red Bull into providing a new contract.
With no disrespect to DC, who is still clearly capable of delivering, this is not going to happen… it's either going to be Michael and Felipe or Kimi and Felipe, the Scot doesn't figure in the equation.
The real question one has to ask therefore is whether this is a late April Fool joke or an early one.
