According to reports in the German media, Gustav Brunner has left Toyota, having joined the Japanese team in 2001.
Although the news has not been officially confirmed by Toyota, there is already speculation that the Austrian could be heading to Scuderia Toro Rosso.
Brunner's F1 career began with ATS in the late 70s, then, there followed spells at Arrows, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Ram Hart, which in turn led to a two-year post as Technical Director at Leyton House.
In 1992, Brunner joined March, then, subsequently moved to Minardi then back to Ferrari. In late 1997 he headed back to Faenza, where he spent three years before joining Toyota as Chief Designer. When Mike Gascoyne joined the team, ahead of the 2004 season, Brunner was left to concentrate on the 2005 car from an early stage in the 2004 season, the benefits of which were seen throughout 2005.
