The 2005 test programme finally came to an end today, as Honda and Renault carried out a wet test for Michelin at an artificially dampened Jerez circuit.
The Englishman completed 95 laps of the Spanish track, without any significant problems.
Making his farewell appearance for Renault was Franck Montagny, who in 2006 will be replaced as test driver by Heikki Kovalainen. The Frenchman completed 76 laps, posting a best time 0.035s slower than Button, though the Englishman was running a V8.
F1 cars will next fire up in anger at Jerez on January 10, when the Renault R26 will make its track debut.
The car with which the French outfit hopes to defend both World Championship titles, will be joined by Ferrari, Toyota and Red Bull, with five others teams joining them the following day. MF1 is scheduled to begin a three-day test at Silverstone beginning January 11.
