A1 Team Lebanon is ready for the next challenge in the inaugural A1 Grand Prix series, with the fifth round taking place this weekend at the Sepang circuit, near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The team has travelled from Sydney, Australia and the two drivers, Khalil Beschir and Basil Shaaban, have been acclimatising in the heat and humidity with a tailored fitness programme.
The last two rounds of the Series has seen A1 Team Lebanon finish just outside the points, with an 11th place finish at Estoril, Portugal and a 12th place finish at Eastern Creek in Australia. The drivers are hoping they can improve on these results and put some points on the board in Malaysia. Shaaban drove in both of these events and says, "We've been showing that we are competitive and have the staying power in the Feature races, but now we need to get into the top ten. This is our goal for the coming weekend."
Beschir says of Sepang, "This is an awesome venue for A1 Grand Prix. It's the first track in the Series that is currently on the Formula One calendar, so it is quite special and I hope I'll have the opportunity to drive it this weekend. A1 Team Lebanon needs to score points now and we'll be out there with this aim right from the start."
