As previously reported, Midland F1 has said that no official announcements about its 2006 driver line-up will be made today, or possibly in the next week.
However, that hasn't stopped Tiago Monteiro telling all and sundry that a deal has been concluded.
Portuguese news agency, Agencia Lusa, reports that the Portuguese driver has confirmed that he has signed to partner Christijan Albers in 2006.
"I announce that I'll continue at Midland, I signed the contract today (Thursday) and that will be confirmed by the team soon.
"It's a great relief," he added, "these last days were very tough because there wasn't any certainty, but I expected to continue in F1 after what I did this year."
As we wait on Midland to officially confirm or deny the deal, it's worth remembering that Narain Karthikeyan previously said that the 'asking price' for the second seat with the Russian team could be as much as £8m ($14m).
