Contrary to reports elsewhere, the Grand Prix Manufacturers' Association (GPMA) has not appointed former Honda F1 president Shoichi Tanaka as its head.
Talking to Pitpass on Thursday a GPMA source said: "We do not comment on speculation." However, sources from the group admitted that they would like to have Tanaka on board, and that he has shown an interest.
Asked how the GPMA is progressing, the source said: "Basically we are ticking off all the boxes on the business plan."
Tanaka was appointed President of Honda Racing Developments in 1999, having worked with the company since 1966. In that time he has served the Japanese giant in various roles, including commercial director of Honda Brazil, Sales Manager for Europe and President of Honda France.
