A1 Team Germany started its home race of the new A1 Grand Prix series at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz in fine style by setting top times in free practice.
Timo Scheider set the fourth fastest time of 1:35.043 for the Willi Weber managed team during first practice. The 26-year old racing driver finished the second one-hour training session on Friday in third place with a time of 1:34.722 behind the French and Irish teams.
"This is really a good start," said the satisfied German, who was nominated to drive for his team for the entire race weekend. "We worked on tuning the ride-height, the damper set-up and the anti-roll bars during first practice and improved constantly." Scheider completed 21 laps in his team's 520 hp monoposto.
In the afternoon, the professional racing driver who originates from Braubach in Rhineland-Palatinate spooled of 24 laps. "We decided to run a longer final drive, which immediately proved to be very effective," he explained. "Furthermore we set our best time at the end of the session, which gives me plenty of confidence since we showed that the direction we took is correct."
