It's believed that computer chip manufacturer Intel is having second thoughts about a deal with McLaren, and is seriously considering whether it wishes to be involved in Formula One.

The US giant, the world's largest computer chip manufacturer, is understood to be furious that the sport's governing body, the FIA, has a greed a strategic partnership with arch-rival, AMD.

For some time there has been speculation that Intel was in talks with WilliamsF1 and McLaren, having finally opted to do a £27m ($50m) deal with the sponsorship deal with the Woking team.

The deal was scheduled to be unveiled at Monza, but this is when the FIA revealed its partnership with AMD, and vice-president, Henri Richard, appointed special technology advisor to the FIA.

Intel is currently a (minor) sponsor of the Toyota team.
