BMW Motorsport boss has admitted his unease at the fact that teams may use V10 engines in 2006, even though the 'old' powerplants will be restricted.

There is speculation that in the early days of the new 2.4 litre V8 formula, those teams using the V10 (Red Bull Junior Team) may have an advantage on the big teams.

"The V10 option was originally planned as an emergency solution for small teams with no access to V8 engines", says Theissen. "So I think that if you want to win races, you need to run a V8.

"For teams and manufacturers alike, it is therefore essential that the V10 restrictions will be defined appropriately."

Theissen believes that even with a rev limiter the V10 may have a performance advantage in slower corners.
