Race stewards adjudged Antonio Pizzonia to be the guilty party following the clash with Juan Pablo Montoya that prevented McLaren from securing a 1-2, the second time in three races that the Colombian has become entangled in such a late-race incident.
Having viewed video evidence, and talked to both drivers, the stewards fined Pizzonia $8,000, peanuts compared to the ten grid spots that Takuma Sato will forfeit in Brazil for his clash with Michael Schumacher.
Following the news that Nick Heidfeld has injured himself in a cycle accident, it is possible that Pizzonia will replace the German at the next race, Brazil, his home race.
