The pace-setter at Paul Ricard on Wednesday was Scott Speed, Team USA, who, despite having his first run in the A1 GP car, posted a best time of 1:24.559.
Although organizers of the A1 GP series are at pains not to compare the series with Formula One, it's worth noting that using the same track configuration, the 2.583 mile (4.157km) 2D sc layout, Marc Gene, in the Ferrari F2005 posted 1:13.297, while GP2 cars have not run on this particular configuration.
