Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum's dream of a World Cup of Motorsports takes another huge step forward over the next couple of days, when fifteen countries will run their cars in a two-day test at Silverstone.
The test, comes just days after three more countries - France, the United States and Switzerland - signed up to the A1 Grand Prix series, bringing the number of confirmed entries up to nineteen.
Following successful tests at Dubai and Jerez, this will be the first time that the teams and drivers that will contest the championship - which gets underway at Brands Hatch next month - have been let loose in the 550 bhp 3.4 litre machines.
Drivers on duty over the next two days include Robbie Kerr, Jos Verstappen, Jonny Reid, Pedro Lamy, Alex Lloyd and Nelson Piquet Jr.
