The FIA issued the following statement on Monday 4 July:

"Further to the approval of the FIA World Motor Sport Council, a summary of the proposals for the 2008 FIA Formula One World Championship has been distributed today to Formula One Management, race organisers, race promoters, current Formula One drivers, current Formula One teams, engine suppliers and tyre suppliers.

"Proposed detailed technical regulations for 2008 have also been distributed to the current teams, engine suppliers and car manufacturers."

This relates to the proposals recently presented by Max Mosley and officially submitted at last week's meeting of the World Motor Sport Council.

There are a couple of changes to the proposals recently put forward, namely a ban on carbon fibre suspension and a re-writing of the relevant regulations in light of the 'BAR affair', namely, fuel tanks must be fully drained after races.

Interestingly, the draft rules carry a very strong copyright warning, which relates to "text, graphics, names and trade marks", which might be seen as a 'ands off' to those considering starting a new series.
