A decision as to whether Ralf Schumacher will play any further part in the United States Grand Prix weekend will be made later today.
Although the German escaped from his Toyota, almost unharmed, following yesterday's high-speed crash on the banked corner, he was taken to a local hospital.
There, the German underwent an MRI scan, which proved fine, but later complained of having "something in his eye" which was causing slightly blurred vision.
Before he plays any further part in Saturday's activities, he will undergo an FIA examination - scheduled to take place on today (Saturday) at 07:30 local time.
"Thankfully, I am feeling okay," said Ralf on Friday evening. "But that was quite a big accident.
"Lightning is supposed not to strike twice in the same place," he added, referring to his horrific crash - at virtually the same spot - during the 2004 US Grand Prix, "but on this occasion I guess that does not apply to me."
Should he be declared unfit, he will be replaced by Ricardo Zonta.
