James Rossiter, currently competing in the F3 Euroseries, is to take part in next week's four-way 'shoot-out' for the race seat with A1 Team Great Britain.
It's understood that Adam Carroll, currently competing in GP2 with SuperNova, has pulled out, though the precise reason is unknown.
Rossiter will join Ralph Firman, Robbie Kerr and Alex Lloyd, at the two-day event at Brands Hatch, next Monday and Tuesday.
Each day, two drivers will take to the track in an F3000 car supplied by Arden International, Firman and Kerr will run on Monday, while Lloyd and Rossiter are on track on Tuesday.
The final evaluation will be based not purely on lap times or performance, but also on other issues such as feedback to engineers and how the drivers' interact with the media.
Meanwhile, a seven way shoot-out' for the race seat with A1 Team China takes place later this week.
