Regarded as one of the few, genuine, potential world champions, McLaren has no intention of letting Kimi Raikkonen move to any of its rivals.
Talking to a Finnish TV programme on Wednesday, McLaren boss Ron Dennis said that it is his firm intention to keep his prize asset.
"We will fight to keep Kimi on the team," he told MTV3. "Kimi Raikkonen will stay on this team as long as he wants."
"He has a capability of winning many, many world championships," he continued. "Not one, many. And if we don't deliver it to him, I am absolutely sure that he will look at other teams in the future to find it elsewhere."
Raikkonen, who won last Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix, thereby moving to third in the drivers' championship, topped the timesheets on the first day of testing at Paul Ricard on Wednesday.
