On the second day of testing at Vallelunga, WilliamsF1 test driver Antonio Pizzonia spent much of his time practicing warm-up laps, attempting to generate as much heat into his tyres as possible.
On a day which began cloudy, but eventually gave way to bright sunshine, with air temperatures reaching 20 degrees C, and a track temperature hitting 37 degrees C, the Brazilian was joined by Mark Webber, who has made some poor starts to his races this season, most notably at Barcelona last weekend.
Webber, who experienced problems in the morning, spent the afternoon concentrating on set-ups and tyre compound testing for next week's race.
"Antonio had a productive second day on track today, predominantly working on tyre evaluations with Michelin," said test team manager, Tim Newton. "Mark Webber joined Antonio but, unfortunately, had a less productive day. We lost a lot of time in the morning due to technical problems but, after a lot of hard work by the mechanics, we made a good recovery in time for the afternoon session. Mark was then able to complete some very useful tyre testing for Monaco."
