Though wet weather compromised Ferrari's test at Fiorano, where Rubens Barrichello was in action, conditions were almost ideal at Mugello, where Michael Schumacher was driving an F2005 and Luca Badoer an F2004 M.
However, overnight rain meant that the track was damp when today's session got underway, but once it dried out, the two drivers were able to run continuously, completing 228 laps between them.
The world champion's programme centred on aerodynamic and set-up work, while Badoer concentrated on Bridgestone tyre development.
Both drivers continue here tomorrow.
