Less than two weeks after Sydney witnessed a Formula One car drive across its famous Harbour Bridge, its been revealed that the city is to host a round of the forthcoming A1 Grand Prix series.
The news has been leaked ahead of the launch of the Australian A1 GP team next month, by former F1 World Champion, Alan Jones.
"We're not really going head to head with Formula One," he told reporters. "Everything's the same, down to the driver and the team? We start racing in September and basically finish in April, so we're going to be running at a time of the year when Formula One isn't running."
It's widely speculated that Jones' own son Christian, who has enjoyed a moderately successful career in Australian F3, will drive Australia's A1 GP entry.
