In the wake of Jordan's decision to sign Narain Karthikeyan, giving India its first F1 driver, Bernie Ecclestone has said that it shouldn't be too long before the country gets to host its own round of the Formula One world Championship.
Like China, India is one of the world's booming economies, and the manufacturers and sponsors would dearly love to get their hands on some of the new wealth that is being created.
Despite talk of a race for several years, politics has meant that a suitable location has yet to be found and agreed, however, talking to the BBC the F1 supremo suggested that a decision could be close.
Asked if India will host a round of the World Championship, he replied; "definitely, it's just a case of where"
Although unable to confirm precisely where the race would be held, he suggested that it would. "probably end up in Bombay"
Previously, Calcutta and Hyderabad have been close to securing deals.
