NEWS STORY
The great amateur racer Peter Whitehead started racing in 1934 with his racing career being interrupted only by WWII.
After a series of cars including two ERAs he purchased a Formula One Ferrari 125 in 1949 with which he gained many successes including winning the Czech Grand Prix and finishing third in the French Grand Prix.
In 1950 he won the Jersey Road Race and the Ulster Trophy at Dundrod with the Ferrari.
We see him here placing third at the BRDC Silverstone in 1950 in a wonderful photograph by the photographer T. C. March.
