The Circuit de Catalunya's new asphalt will be ready for the 2005 season. The asphalting works started after the F1 tests in November and will be finished on January 15th 2005. As the track will not be available, some modifications to the run-off areas at Elf and Seat will be carried out. Right now the Circuit's tarmac is 15 years old.

Furthermore new seats are to be installed in Grandstand G In order to make it more comfortable for spectators, Grandstand G, which is one of the oldest, has been totally restructured. Its 10,000 seats have been replaced for more comfortable and ergonomic new seats, access passages have been redesigned and capacity has improved. These works are almost finished and people will be able to enjoy the new Grandstand G during the F1 tests in January.

764,000 spectators attended the Circuit de Catalunya's events in 2004. This figure which goes beyond any other permanent track in Spain.

The F1 Grand Prix and MotoGP Grand Prix attracted more than 100,000 spectators on thus registering a new attendance record. More than six events - including the MotoGP tests in March - had more than 30,000 spectators.

On January 18th 2005, the Circuit will welcome the F1 teams who will start preparing for the new world championship on the Catalan track.

This is the third revamp to the track since 1991. Firstly, the Nissan chicane was removed in 1995. Also in 1995 the stretch which divided the track into two independent tracks was built. And last year the new stretch of track at La Caixa was carried out.
