WilliamsF1 hopeful Nick Heidfeld topped the timesheets on the penultimate day of testing.
The Circuito de Jerez was artificially flooded as six Michelin-shod teams began two days of wet-weather testing.
The German, who is hoping to secure the second WilliamsF1 seat, alongside Mark Webber, completed 102 laps, posting a best time 0.847 faster than his closest rival, Franck Montagny.
Ironically, the weather was the best it's been all week, but since wet-weather testing was the order of the day, the large water carriers were brought out, continually dampening the track.
Montagny, who completed 85 laps, was one of several drivers to spin off during the course of the day, with Heidfeld and Zonta also having 'moments'.
WilliamsF1, which ends its 2005 programme today, ran with 2005 downforce levels, which Heidfeld later described as "interesting", while the other teams tried various solutions.
