FIA president Max Mosley, yesterday confirmed that eight manufacturers will contest the inaugural World Touring Car Championship in 2005.
In addition to established motorsport names including, Alfa Romeo, BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Seat, Honda and Peugeot, the series will also welcome the Chinese manufacturer, Brilliance.
A partner of BMW, Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd is China's biggest manufacturer of minibuses. In 2003, Brilliance sold in excess of 100,000 vehicles, including minibuses and sedans, 38% up on its sales in 2002.
Having staged its maiden Grand Prix this year, in addition to being one of the first countries to sign up to A1 Grand Prix, it's clear that China is fully determined to be fully involved in international motorsport, at all levels.
