A few months back there was talk of two former world champions making comebacks, Jacques Villeneuve and Mika Hakkinen.
The Canadian is now ensconced in the seat previously filled by Jarno Trulli at Renault, heading to Sauber in 2005, while Mika Hakkinen looks to have opted to give F1 a miss and join former F1 stars Jean Alesi and Heinz-Harald Frentzen in DTM.
The former McLaren star is testing for Mercedes at Lausitzring and according to witnesses has lost none of his speed and is desperately keen to return to racing.
Although Mercedes - which powered him to both his F1 titles - has a strong squad, having lost the 2004 championship to rivals Audi, it will want an even stronger team in 2005, and Hakkinen could be just the man.
