Mr Excellent attempting to pull a fast one?

NEWS STORY

Following on from the story in which we reported that Bernie Ecclestone - now forever known as Mr Excellent - has offered to promote the British GP, it's understood that his bid is even more audacious than first realized.

It is now said that Ecclestone is willing - get that, willing - to promote the race, providing he is given year-round use of the Northamptonshire track without paying rent. In addition, he would still expect the BRDC to carry out all planned reconstruction to the track.

In an added twist, Ecclestone is said to have advised the BRDC that it would only have access to its clubhouse during the Grand Prix weekend.

Ecclestone has already received a very generous compensation package from the previous promoter, Interpublic, and now hopes not only to receive year-round use of the Northamptonshire track, and also every other cent he takes, but also the gate receipts.

To put it another way: Bernie wants you to fully modernize and redecorate your house to his standards. He will then come and stay there and invite his friends, who will pay him. You will continue to pay the mortgage but will only be allowed to visit the property once a year, though you will be expected to provide food and drink and pay all maintenance costs and utility bills.

Yeh right!
