Jaguar driver, Mark Webber, along with two of Australia’s other young stars, British Formula 3 competitors, Barton Mawer and Will Power, combined to win a two hour Kart endurance race held at Bayford Meadows Kart Circuit in Kent last week.
The team was forced to start a lap down and were pushed hard in the early part of the race, before pulling away, eventually winning by over two laps. The competitive nature of Webber, Mawer and Power was such that they were not content to settle for anything other than perfection. Between their stints in the kart, they could be found glued to the timing monitors, deep in discussion about their race tactics.
Unfortunately due to a technical infringement caused by the senior member of the team failing to wear gloves during his opening stint, the team was disqualified after the race.
The day was organised by the Mark Webber Supporters club, and gave the club’s members the opportunity to meet the highly popular driver and to test their driving skill’s against the WilliamsF1-bound driver.
All three were back in action at the weekend, Mark at Monza and Barton and Will in the British Formula 3 Championship at Spa-Francorchamps.
