NEWS STORY
As previously reported, the A1 Grand Prix car was in action at Jerez recently, where Stephen Watson, and new former Jordan F1 driver, Ralph Firman, put it through its paces.
The car was not the definitive version therefore we shouldn't read too much into the results or times, that said, according to our sources the test was highly encouraging.
In temperatures reaching 38 degrees C, the car lapped the Spanish track at around the 1:31 mark. However, this was not a serious test, the drivers weren't 'going for times'. Furthermore, the tyres being used were not the definite version, while the car doesn't feature driver aids.
All in all, it was a very encouraging test.
On a slightly different note, readers will be aware that 'Silverstone protester' Cornelius Horan, was in action in at the Olympics in Athens on Sunday, bundling marathon leader Vanderlei De Lima off the road in front of millions of startled TV viewers.
The self-proclaimed "grand prix priest", carried a large sign that proclaimed; "The second coming is near".
We wonder if he was referring to A1 Grand Prix.
