Ralf Schumacher is to undergo a check-up to ensure that he is ready to take part in next week's test at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.
The German, still recovering from injuries sustained during the United States GP in June, is keen to get back behind the wheel of the revised FW26, but will first have to undergo a full check up.
"This week, Ralf will undergo another check-up", confirmed his manager, Willi Weber. "Should his doctors give him the green light, it looks as if he will contest the Monza tests, and then the Italian Grand Prix which takes place a week later."
However, the final word will rest will FIA medical delegate Professor Sid Watkins, who feels that it is vital that the German take part in next week's tests to acclimatise himself to the speeds and strains of F1.
Schumacher missed last year's Italian GP, following a heavy crash during the tests which took place the previous week.
